He turns his camera lens on Derek, who looks away from the treeline to scowl, “They’ve been sending teams here for ages and nobody’s ever found something more exciting than a new variant of, I dunno, space ivy or something, so would you just--”

Author’s Note: Written for WIP Big Bang, with art by the lovely and talented musicalluna, who was encouraging and patient with my rewrites. Thanks, as ever, to S for the beta duty (and making me write the ending three times, you are a tyrant and you were right: I’m the worst, I’m sorry). Original inspiration from the SG-1 Episode ‘Window of Opportunity,’ though if you’re familiar with the episode this went a different direction. The line about the universe and pie was lovingly stolen from the SG-1 Episode ‘Urgo.’ If you’re unfamiliar with SG-1, I highly recommend either episode as an introduction to the series. I chose not to use archive warnings, but mind the tags and check out the end notes for full warnings. It's not tagged or in the warnings, but this entire series is domestic as fuck.
