Huzzah! You've already brought me great joy by volunteering for one of my fave, wee fandoms.
Other than the requested fandom and any indicated characters, view the rest of this post as suggestion if you’re lacking ideas; it's definitely not dealbreaker stuff. Feel free to cut loose: give me crack, give me PWP, give me that experimental writing style you’ve always wanted to try but never had an excuse to use, give me the strangest AU/fusion you can think of. Have fun with it!
Loves (in Yuletide fics, at least) include stories that "feel" like canon, friendship, tropes, porn, sci-fi and fantasy AUs, and happy endings. (And hey, the porn and friendship aren’t mutually exclusive!)
Squicks include non-con, most incest (adopted sibling loophole, people), and harm of children or animals. (I do have a pretty severe aversion to dismemberment. It's not a particularly common plot device, but read enough SGA fic and it's something that comes up. Who knew?)
House of Cards (US TV)
In a review of the series, Frank Underwood's described as 'tamping down his rage with a practiced charm.' Feel free to make of that what you will. I'd love something Frank-centric, but it's such a rich series that anything would do.
Luther (TV), - Alice Morgan and John Luther
This is the only fandom I requested with specific characters. Why? I’m hoping for porn. I never claimed to have a classy Christmas list.
Mansfield Park – Jane Austen
A pre- or post-canon story for this one would be a dream. I’ve always been fond of the minor characters in Mansfield Park, and I’d love to know more. Austen does a lot of things brilliantly, but giving us juicy backstory isn't her forte. Alternatively, a post-canon story for Fanny and Edmund (as dark or fluffy as you like), epistolary fic, or a modern AU.
Artemis Fowl – Eoin Colfer
As with any of my requests, I’d be happy with porn. And it’s your chance to write interspecies porn, too! Artemis Fowl II/Holly Short have a ridiculous amount of canon UST for a YA series. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, I’d love a character piece or slice of life centered on any of the minor characters. The Butlers are particular favorites if you're going that route.
Old Man’s War and Red Shirts – both by John Scalzi
I’m enamored of Scalzi’s worldbuilding for these. Feel free to let original characters out to play!
Well, Yuletide friend, as long as you do a spelling/grammar check, I'm going to be insanely happy. Do note that I’m traveling over the holidays, and as of yet I don’t know about reliability of internet access. I probably won't have time to read the story and give proper feedback until late on the 25th or early on the 26th (and that’s PST).
